FAQ
You'll find many of the answers to these questions and much more in my "Tutorials".
Why is there no iOS version?
As far as I know it is not possible because Apple doesn't provide the needed API's.
Why is there no 6GHz band (Wi-Fi 6E)?
My current plan is to implement the 6GHz band in 2024 (with the support of Wi-Fi 7).
I currently do not have the equipment to test it (I have no 6GHz capable devices yet).
Why doesn't it find any networks?
You'll get more information in my tutorial "Error messages explained" (No networks found).
Why doesn't it show me as connected, but I know I am?
You'll get more information in my tutorial "Connecting to networks" (Error messages).
Why doesn't it find my Wi-Fi adapter?
You'll get more information in my tutorial "Error messages explained" (Wi-Fi adapter not found).
Why doesn't it show me the correct channel bandwidth?
You'll get more information in my tutorial "Platform & hardware limitations" (Channel bandwidth not supported).
Why doesn't it show me the Link-Speed?
You'll get more information in my tutorial "Platform & hardware limitations" (Link-Speed not supported).
Why can't I upgrade to the PRO-Version?
You'll get more information in my tutorial "Upgrade to PRO" (Problems?).
Why don't I get the PRO-Version which I bought on another device?
You'll get more information in my tutorial "Upgrade to PRO" (Problems?).
Why are networks shown outside of the graph?
Maybe you have set the wrong region in the app. Wi-Fi frequencies differ from region to region so make sure you have set the correct one.
Why does the speedmeter & graphs refresh so slow?
It takes time to search for networks (this depends heavily on the used hardware). This is also the reason I don't use animations.
Why can't I find the app on Windows 8.1 & Windows Phone 8.1?
These kind of apps can not work with earlier versions than Windows 10 because the API's necessary are simply not available there. The API's where introduced with the Windows 10 UWP app model.
Why no ping & speed test?
I won't implement these because it is not the primary function of this app. A speed test will messure the speed of the Internet and not of the Wi-Fi connection. Microsoft's "Network Speed Test" does a great job in case you'll need it. The Link-Speed does exactly this, but is not supported on any hardware right now.
Why is there no screenshot functionality?
Because this functionality is built into Windows 10 itself.
Mobile: Press "Power + Volume-Up" hardware button.
PC: Press "Windows-Key (WINKEY) + PrintScreen (PRTSCN)".
Can I use the app commercially?
Yes, the app can be used commercially.
What can I do if the store gives me an error?
You could try to reset the store cache (http://www.thewindowsclub.com/reset-windows-store-cache).
